I live and work from the Harpers Ferry, West Virginia area. My background brings together engineering, community service, and a local business. The common thread is taking responsibility for the work in front of me.

Jon Stammer
Rooted in the region. Curious about what’s next.
I’m a software and systems engineer with more than nine years of experience. I studied computer and information sciences at Shepherd University, and a Summer 2016 internship at the U.S. Coast Guard Operations Systems Center — listed on Shepherd’s public internship page among students from Oakland, Maryland — was my first experience in a professional working environment. Mentors there were helpful, and I enjoyed the experience as preparation for future studies and work.
Outside my professional work, volunteer fire service has been an important part of my life — first with Oakland Volunteer Fire Department (September 2012–December 2016), and later with Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter, EMS assistant, and driver (June 2015–present).
Stammer Enterprises is my local sole-member LLC, focused on long-term residential ownership in Jefferson County. Menu boards and other software tools are personal hobby projects I build in spare time.
Engineering rewards careful thinking. Community service asks you to show up. Ownership means staying involved. Each brings a useful perspective to the others.
In my professional work
Software & systems engineering
With 9+ years in the field, my work has centered on application development, SQL, Linux, and supporting dependable systems. I hold CompTIA Security+ (issued May 2018). Building menu boards and other small tools remains a personal hobby — professional responsibilities come first, and hobby projects fit into spare time.
In the community
Volunteer fire service
Public service includes Oakland Volunteer Fire Department (firefighter, Sep 2012–Dec 2016) and Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department (firefighter, EMS assistant, and driver from Jun 2015 to present).

Scouting & service
I earned the rank of Eagle Scout in January 2014, with additional Eagle Palms. That experience is part of a longer story of service, preparation, and following through.
